Doctor Dome is the arch-enemy of Plastic Man, a DC Comics superhero who first appeared in the early 1940s. Plastic Man, or Eel O'Brian, gained his powers after an accident while attempting to rob Crawford Chemical Works. A container of peculiarly crafted acid was knocked over, igniting his transformation into a shape-changing superhero.
Doctor Dome, on the other hand, is a supervillain who wears a dome-shaped helmet. He is responsible for a number of crimes, often with the help of his sidekick, Lynx. One of Doctor Dome's schemes involved hiring Madame Merciless, a female criminal with hypnosis powers, to control Plastic Man. Another of Doctor Dome's henchmen is Sphinx, a super-strong crook who once tried to take over the former's territory.
Plastic Man has fought many villains throughout his comic book history, but Doctor Dome is considered the closest thing to his arch-nemesis. Other foes include Acid Tongue, a criminal who can spit acid at targets from a distance; Amorpho, a sentient blob of protoplasm from an unknown planet; and B.T. Tokus.
Plastic Man's powers and backstory have inspired other comic book characters, including Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), created by Stan Lee. A Plastic Man film is currently in development, though little is known about the project beyond the involvement of writer Amanda Idoko.

Madame Merciless hypnotised Plastic Man
Madame Merciless, a master hypnotist and French criminal mastermind, was hired by Doctor Dome to hypnotise Plastic Man. Madame Merciless first met Plastic Man at a masked ball thrown by The Society to Preserve Aardvarks. She danced with Plastic Man, who thought he recognised her, and asked her outside to talk. She then used her compact mirror to hypnotise him and demanded he follow her out of the ball.
Madame Merciless employed two witch doctors to cast a spell on Plastic Man to make him follow any orders given by Doctor Dome. To test whether Plastic Man was under his control, Doctor Dome booted him in the rear and made him thank him for it. Plastic Man, however, was just playing along to find out what Doctor Dome was up to.
Doctor Dome's daughter, Lynx, was jealous of Madame Merciless's hands-on examination of Plastic Man. She asked her father if she could take Plastic Man out, and he obliged. Lynx ordered Plastic Man to kiss her, convinced that one kiss would make him her love slave forever. She then had him steal a mink coat for her, but they were spotted by Gordy and Mike, who had been looking for Plastic Man since he left the party.
Madame Merciless, who had been trailing Lynx and Plastic Man, shot the hero with a hypno-dark dart and dragged him back to Doctor Dome's headquarters. There, she had her witch doctors cast another spell on Plastic Man, promising Doctor Dome that this time it would work. Plastic Man became subservient to Doctor Dome and was ordered to begin a series of robberies. However, when Madame Merciless tried to shortchange the witch doctors on their payment, they removed the spell, and Plastic Man regained his senses.

Plastic Man's origin story
Plastic Man, also known as Patrick "Eel" O'Brian, is a superhero in the DC Universe. He was created by cartoonist and writer-artist Jack Cole, first appearing in Police Comics #1 (August 1941).
O'Brian was orphaned at age 10 and forced to live on the streets, turning to a life of crime. As an adult, he became part of a burglary ring, specialising as a safecracker. During a heist at the Crawford Chemical Plant, he was shot in the shoulder by a guard and doused in a mysterious chemical. His associates abandoned him, and he collapsed outside the city, where he was nursed back to health by a monk.
